Specific hands-on tasks involve calculations using millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres, perimeters, diameters and circumferences of circles; viewing relationships btween the area of rectangles and triangles; measuring volume by displacement using cubic measures and 3D models; measuring mass using suspension and projection; and activities based on timelines, calendars, clocks and time uinits.

Measurement in Mathematics Book 6 aims to further develop the attitudes, understandings and skills students have acquired in working with the measurement strand in previous years. Specific hands-on tasks involve calculations using millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres, as well as diameters and circumferences of circles. Students will also investigate areas of surfaces and tessellations, as well as mass (including suspension and projections) and volume of solids. In addition they will investigate time and how it relates to the calendar, 12 and 24 hour clocks and timetables.
